Workspaces have a large hold on floorspace within the urban landscape. Over the last few years workspace design has changed in priority with a shift away from Monday to Friday 9-5 office attendance. Methods of working were abruptly upturned after the Covid lockdown with the realisation that available technology exists for us to work effectively at home. The benefits of quiet concentration away from office distractions and the saved time and anguish of not having to commute made many question the purpose of the office.
Yet the lack of interaction, serendipity and social feedback created a longing for the energy and spontaneity of a shared space. Workplace design changed and now accommodates a wider set of uses to allow for a diverse and positive workspace.
To ensure we are well equipped for any future adaptations in the provision of workspace and to reflect on the changes since the Covid pandemic, the practice has build a strategy towards the provision of workspace that considers the environment, workers, social and financial impact of projects.
